What's your "go to", "cannot miss" meal at the world.

The last two trips we’ve done dinner at Sanaa and I have a feeling it’ll always be in the rotation from now on. We’ve also made Kona Cafe a regular stop. This past trip (December 2018) we ate at Bluezoo and I’d definitely go there again (although not technically a Disney restaurant).

What ride(s) can you absolutely not miss during a Disney trip?

Haunted Mansion Peter Pans Flight (for the nostalgia) Pirates

Dinner and breakfast advice for 50th Anniversary

Congrats on your anniversary and on doing a few days at Disney just the two of you. I haven’t been to Narcoosee’s or California Grill, but was at Citricos about two weeks ago. The service was impeccable and the food was delicious. I also appreciated how unrushed the service was. Normally, most...

    2018 Christmas Week Experiences

Same. The past two times I’ve gone (2016 and 2018) were during the Christmas week. It was fun to be there during that time, but our next trip in a few years won’t be at Christmas.

    Where Are the Characters?

Good to know. Prior to my most recent trips (2018 and 2016) it’d been a pretty sizable gap since I’d been to WDW. It just struck me as disappointing, but I understand why.

    Where Are the Characters?

I’m just back from a week at WDW. It was an amazing trip, but one thing struck me as missing: the characters. Sure, you see them in the parades and at the various meet and greet spots. But I remember a time when characters were much more readily accessible throughout the parks. You might be...

Christmas Day at the Magic Kingdom

Spent Christmas Day with my family in MK last week and thoroughly enjoyed it. Six of us got there for rope drop at 6:00 AM and, once we got past an unexpected choke point on the bridge leading to Tomorrowland, we were able to do Space Ranger Spin, TTA, the racecars, Winnie the Pooh, Peter Pan...

    Disney Springs recommendations?

I ate at Frontera Cocina last week and thoroughly enjoyed it. The menu is a little limited, but everyone in my party of 11 was able to find something that they enjoyed. If you like tequila, try the flight. Our waiter was a bit overly enthusiastic, but he was attentive and made up feel welcome...

What percentage of guests only experience peak crowds?

I’m one of those people. I know it’s going to be insane, but go anyway. The combination of school and job schedules makes it virtually impossible to avoid going at the peak of the peak times. But, I go anyway. We just use all of the planning tools to maximize our time and then leave the parks...

    2018 Christmas Week Experiences

I just returned yesterday from 7 days at WDW, including spending Christmas Day at the MK. The crowds were, as expected, massive in all of the parks. But, as others above mentioned, with ADRs booked this summer and FPs, my family of 11 was able to do everything we wanted to. I guess you have to...

News Support Give Kids The World Village with their new 'Behind The Themes' tour series

I had the great fortune to visit Give Kids the World with an alumni family two years ago. Though we only spent a few hours there I was touched by the amazing service that they provide for kids with chronic illness and their families. When I returned, I learned about GKTW amazing founder Henry...

SHADES OF GREEN - HERE COME 3 SISTERS + 1 FRIEND

We spent last Christmas at SoG and loved it for all of the reasons you shared. I was a little leery at first that we'd be missing out on the full Disney experience by not staying at a Disney run resort, but the calm and quiet at SoG after long days in the park was just what we needed. And, their...

5th Gate Announced for 50th Anniversary?

Great point. I would absolutely not want any new park to come at the expense of the existing parks (and other infrastructure). I'm heartened that they finally seem to be making major investments in what already exists. If that's as good as it gets, then ok.

5th Gate Announced for 50th Anniversary?

Just to be clear, my original post speculated about the possibility of them announcing a 5th gate during the 50th celebration. I realize there's no way they could have one built by the 50th.

Anyone else hate aerial views of the parks?

I totally get that. When I am on property, I like to be lost in the magic as well. I just also find the whole "hidden" world behind the scenes fascinating as well. I like to juxtapose my memories of those facades with the reality of what the buildings are really like. It honestly makes it feel...

So when people complain about the standard of food within the parks .........

It's all about expectations. I know going to Disney (or a ballpark for that matter) than I am going to pay a premium on food and that the quality will be inconsistent. I have had some lousy meals at Disney and some superb ones. I live in an expensive city with lots of amazing restaurant options...

I'm Just Sick Over The Great Movie Ride

I'm torn on this one. I have always enjoyed GMR and rode it (as it turns out for the last time) in December. I must say it felt quaint and dated that last time, and I walked off it thinking if they didn't do anything to update it, I probably would forgo it in the future. Given so many of the...

Which new attraction proposed at D23 is your favorite?

I was excited by all of the announcements, but I think the Star Wars hotel is the most exciting. While I am a big Star Wars fan, I don't know that I will necessarily stay at the SW hotel. But, I think if Disney can pull this off (and if anyone can, Disney can), it becomes an immediate game...

Anyone else hate aerial views of the parks?

I find it fascinating, actually. I love the operations side of the whole Disney Parks experience. To me, seeing those show buildings and roads and off-stage areas reminds me: 1) what a massive operation it is to run something like WDW, and 2) how Disney does a phenomenal job keeping those areas...

5th Gate Announced for 50th Anniversary?

As the original poster, this is it kind of discussion I was looking for. I can see the arguments for and against a 5th gate. I think it boils down to money. Does adding a 5th gate increase revenues sufficient to make it worth the huge investment? I agree that doing the existing WDW proprieties...
