All the ones I rode are still hand loads. I doubt that has changed. Yes definitely archaic, but still functional and fun to ride.

I have a lot of respect for the original Von Roll type 101's and there is still many out there running. Pretty much all the ones I've ridden in are in great condition. Simple they are, but they serve a purpose. I've ridden San Diego Zoos, Sea world SD, Cedar point and Busch Gardens. I think San...

I've been on both Vail gondolas at night as well as another couple other gondolas that had evening lighting, and it was very subtle. Just a convenience for the guests. It did not spoil the views at all! They also sometimes have an indictor light on top, which is actually a really cool effect...

They would want to keep it as low as they could for all those reasons, plus it better protects the line from wind and weather, and in the extremely rare event they would have to evacuate the cabins, having them lower makes it that much easier to clear them. Heck I'll bet most of the lines could...

All the newer lifts at ski areas etc. are all using galvanized towers now. (for pretty much all the reasons you guys mentioned.) Who knows though...they may add some details to them later on through.

I was there a month or so ago. Had no issues. (there's the work on the Gen gap Bridge and the lake area by little mermaid rooms ) (but I actually was very interested in the construction so maybe I have a biased opinion). I will be there again in 2 weeks, I will get some pics from AOA and have an...

So does that mean they have already selected a manufacturer, or is that speculation?

I honestly expect them to construct some sort of themed building (at least for all loading and unloading areas that these machines will operate out of). I highly doubt they are going to happy with a standard outdoor station. I have seen several examples of lifts running out of various building...

I totally agree. I'm really excited about this because I ride these machines all the time and love the mode of transportation. it is a quiet, relaxing ride, usually with a great view, and I've missed them in disney parks since they left. Walt sure liked them

I honestly thought that was the only one out there, but lift blog mentioned the other one. I think like cabin heating, it must be a mixed bag as to how well it works. I'm not sure there's enough power there to truly make a huge difference with the ultracapacitors, but who knows, maybe they are...

How the London Emirates Air Line Cable Car Powers its Cabins « The Gondola Project http://gondolaproject.com/2012/09/12/how-londons-emirates-air-line-cable-car-powers-cabins/ Yeah I believe most of the new gondolas run around 1200ft per minute, so 13.6 MPH or so

News New Gondola Transportation - Disney Skyliner -

I've ridden the London gondola which does have an AC system on a particular hot day, and I can say I did not notice much difference, but it was a 5 minute ride with a great view so it was not a issue for me. Probably because of the doors opening all the time does not allow the air to cool down...
