Man is trying to visit all 12 Disney Parks in 12 days

It seemed like cast memebers knew what he was doing. Some of them must have seen on Twitter and word got around. I think they gave him congratulatory pins in Paris and at the MK. It's a fun adventure.

    How Tesla Fumbled

Agree on all of this. We recently bought a Genesis (Hyundai's luxury brand) EV. It is fantastic so far. We did have to order from out of state and have it delivered, but paid sticker for it, which is rare these days. There are a lot of EVs out there, and even more coming soon.

    Nielsen Streaming Ratings

One of the advantages of streaming is that the platforms should know 100% the traffic just based on server data. I know they want to guard the info, but there should be 3rd party accounting of published data. There is no reason to have any ambiguity. The movie that shocked me in Gustin’s list...

News Reedy Creek Improvement District and the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District

I do not expect the new governor appointed board to act in good faith. You're right that this has always been a political stunt, and having a board able to veto things Disney wants to do lets a governor claim to be fighting woke corporations in his culture war. I think Disney needs to use the...

Retiring and dealing with your Disney addiction

Research Gainesville well. It’s very centered around the student population. I’m not sure how that would work for retirees. I live in south Jacksonville and while it’s not perfect, it has a lot that Gainesville doesn’t. Alachua county generally is much more liberal than the surrounding counties...

    Disney Parks Annual Attendance History

Would you be willing to share your sources or numbers on the early figures for WDW? The site that I used to go to for it seems to have been lost to the ether.

    Disney's FY20 Q3 Earnings (8/4/20)

@GoofGoof explained how there are a lot of fixed labor costs as well: HR, IT, some security. Your explanation is helpful too!

    Disney's FY20 Q3 Earnings (8/4/20)

Didn't Chapek also say that the decreased attendance numbers were due to the increase in Coronavirus cases in FL? When Disney announced the reopening there were 3k cases/day being reported. Had we stayed at that level, that's 250k-500k less cumulative cases from then to now Thanks. That...

    Disney's FY20 Q3 Earnings (8/4/20)

Around 18:00 point, "At Walt Disney World we are achieving our objective of driving a positive net contribution at current attendance levels, and expect improvement as Covid situation in Florida improves." If they are 'making a positive net contribution' I'm assuming that is cash-flow positive...

This is what I thought I read/saw. Great explanation.

    Disney's FY20 Q3 Earnings (8/4/20)

They show free cash-flow of $454M for the quarter (p11). The goodwill write-down doesn't impact cash, but reflects an over-valuation of assets (gross simplification). In a way they did, in a way they didn't. Did their pile of cash decrease by $5B? No.

They mentioned that decreased costs were due to deferred payments to broadcast sports.

    Disney's FY20 Q3 Earnings (8/4/20)

I missed the call and haven't listen or read the transcript. Did an analyst ask about that? Based on the park reservation system, it appears the only group that is hitting the low capacity is pass holders.

Trip Report Making Lemonade out of Lemons Fractal Family Trip Report - Completed

I have been thinking about how the group that would be most comfortable and enjoy the parks the most would be people who have recovered from Covid. Did you talk to anyone else at the parks who had recovered from the virus? Looks like the lemonade on the trip was sweet!

TEA and AECOM's definitive global attraction attendance report shows moderate performance in 2019

Exactly. DL and Epcot are the same to 5 significant figures? The percentage shifts also seem to be eyeballed giving data calculated like: This year = Last year X ( 1+ % change), and not % change = This year / Last year

What kind of Disney guest are you?

My wife likes to sleep in too, so I’ll head to a park on my own to rope drop, or with one or both my daughters. Last big trip we did one day I went to the parks for rope drop while my wife and daughters did yoga at the resort. we usually take a mid day break and often do a different park in the...
