The Chit Chat Chit Chat Thread

Yesterday I posted about my embarrassment as a Kentucky basketball fan about our search for a new coach, and how fellow fans act about anyone that's mentioned as a candidate. I still feel that way, but UK hired Mark Pope last night, and although he's getting mixed reviews because of his relative...

As a Kentuckian I have to say the last couple of days, and probably the next several days or possibly weeks, really show Kentucky basketball fans at their worst. It is true that John Calipari had pretty much run his course at UK, and his leaving for Arkansas will probably give him a fresh start...

Obviously Bob Newhart's two iconic shows are enough for one actor, but he also had a very good guest role on NCIS a few years ago, playing the medical examiner's predecessor, then suffering from Alzheimer's. In the last couple of years or so, NCIS did a flashback episode to around 1980, when...

A cousin of mine lives at the epicenter of where that quake occurred. He's from western Tennessee, so except for being ready for a massive New Madrid Fault quake if he had stayed near his home, he was very surprised (and scared) by the one in Mineral, VA.

For the actual eclipse, we're going to Dayton, OH to see the Air Force Museum in the AM, then putting camping chairs on the decommissioned runways next to the museum to watch the eclipse. The forecast is so far so good. Then down to Cincinnati for the Reds game that evening. That should be a...

Even though it's April 1, one of the 3 facts in the above post is still true.

Just noticed the date today, and decided today (with the warm temps) to hit my local beach to watch the eclipse.

I went to a Bungles-Browns game after Cleveland was awarded the expansion Browns. Even though we were obviously Bungles fans, some Browns fans let us tour a Browns Mobile (there's a mutual respect between the two fan bases due to Paul Brown being involved with both teams). It was basically a...

I don't fear teams with as much history tied to a location as the Reds, O's, Red Sox, Yankees, Cubs and a handful of other teams leaving those cities. The Reds, like the O's, have a dearth of World Series titles (one of the O's 3 titles came at the Reds' expense in 1970). One of the Reds' meager...

I hope that the existence of a MLB team in DC is never a consideration in whether the O's stay in Baltimore. There's more than enough population to support both teams. It would be horrible to see a franchise with that much history tied to one city leave that city. If there's a team that should...

I went to several O's games when I lived in DC in the 90's. Every time but once I took the subway to Union Station in DC, took an Amtrak train from Union Station to the station close to the O's stadium (Camden Yards maybe?), and had a blast. Because I wasn't driving I could drink a little. Good...

Don't take this as a sign I don't support Baltimore, but for Opening Day I plan to cheer on my Reds, the longest continuously going team in all of American sports. While they're still in first place, go Reds!

Is attendance really down at WDW this or…

I wasn't at WDW last week, but I was at Cocoa Beach/Cape Canaveral for the week. I saw many, many cars with Ontario plates heading in the same direction we were on I-75 on our travel days, probably more so than any individual US state except for Florida.

High summer is a great time to go. Avoid the few days around Memorial Day, Independence Day and Labor Day, and you won't see crowds anything like central Florida for the most part.
