Disney Genie and Genie+ at Walt Disney World

No worries. I should have waited to respond to your post so that I had more time to think about how to say what I wanted to say (I was getting ready to run out the door to a meeting that I knew would be stressful and would last a few hours. Not a good time to respond to a post on a message...

Disney Genie and Genie+ at Walt Disney World

I used to LOVE roller coasters (and some thrill rides)!!! We would go to a few different amusement parks every year just to ride the roller coasters. But as I've gotten older, my body doesn't tolerate them very well. I can do something like 7DMT, but Slinky Dog Dash was a once and done for...

Disney Genie and Genie+ at Walt Disney World

We have no desire to do a trip to Universal so your little analogy is wasted on us. Four of our five kids have been there for a day or two and said that was more than enough for them and they have no desire to go back (and one of them regrets cutting 2 days off of their Disney trip to go...

Disney Genie and Genie+ at Walt Disney World

This is exactly how I look at it. Time is money. On our trip in June 2022 (our first with G+/ILL), the amount we spent on G+/ILL (for 4 adults) was a little less than 7% of the total cost of our trip (including travel and souvenirs) and we felt it was well worth the cost for us. Our previous...

Disney Genie and Genie+ at Walt Disney World

I agree. My son recently met a family who went to Disney World for the first time in January 2024 and they were already planning another trip for August. Why? Because when they went in January, they had no idea that Genie+ existed (or how to use it) and that by staying on property (which they...

News Tiana's Bayou Adventure - latest details and construction progress

Of course it will. We check out on the 23rd. We missed Toy Story Land by 5 days as well (we hung around the entrance to that area a lot that week just in case they were doing unannounced previews. They weren't.) We did manage to be at Disney the week the Frozen ride and new Anna & Elsa...

My "Be Nice To Cast Members" T Shirt Experiment

There is a FB group for DCP parents and they sell shirts that read, "Be nice to cast members. They might be my daughter/son." My daughter was accepted into the DCP in 2020 but her program got cancelled. I was going to buy one of those shirts if her program wasn't cancelled.

    I wouldn't be surprised if it's $50 by next week....NYE.

Disney Genie and Genie+ at Walt Disney World

Exactly. If you take the time to address it while you're there, GS can do something to make your day memorable and make things right for you (refunding money, issuing LLs, etc.). When you wait until you get home, nothing they can do will really fix things. Even if they issue a refund or...

Disney Genie and Genie+ at Walt Disney World

Yes, this!!! We tend to be a commando touring family at Disney. Then we used G+ every day of our 8-day trip last June (2022). What a difference (and we were previously FP+ power users)! With G+ we got to do everything we wanted to and many things more than once (by taking advantage of...

News Disney World's Magic Kingdom is experiencing widescale attraction closures this morning due to a bear

I read this and now I can't get this earworm out of my head: FACT: Bears eat beets. Bears. Beets. Battlestar Galactica.

Anyone else choosing to drive these days?

We've driven from southeast PA to Disney World (1,000+ miles, 16 hours) nine times since 2001. My husband doesn't like to fly -- he'll do it for business but prefers not to for personal travel. He likes to do all the driving, so I just get to be the co-pilot for the entire drive. We have 5...

    Magic Band and Lost Kid

I know your trip is over, but I thought I'd post this for your next trip or for others who might be reading this thread. I'm always worried about losing my cell phone when we're at Disney. So last year before we went, I got a phone lanyard. There are many options out there, but I got this...

Anyone else miss Be Our Guest Quick Service lunch?

I definitely miss the QS lunch at BOG. It didn't really feel like QS....more like QS+. We had lunch there at least once every trip. I wish they'd bring it back.

Maybe one reason folks are still going to WDW

Exactly. I have a friend whose sister lives in the town closest to where we're staying. It's not a small town, but also not a huge city. She's lived there for 20 years and when we asked her for restaurant recommendations, she had none. She said there are ok restaurants, but nothing that...

Maybe one reason folks are still going to WDW

Same for the mountains basically. We're doing a family vacation to the Poconos later this month. We rented at house with 5 bedrooms, 3 baths. The house is large, but needs updating. Reviews say the home is in great shape, no complaints, but still has all the original bathroom and kitchen...

Disney Genie and Genie+ at Walt Disney World

I agree. While I didn't find the system in general difficult to use, I do think the terminology/names they use for the system can be very confusing. They could have done a much better job of naming thing and that would eliminate a lot of the initial confusion.

Disney Genie and Genie+ at Walt Disney World

I didn't find it complicated or confusing either. I think the issue comes in -- like you said -- when people are trying to fit their LL/ILLs between ADRs, children's naps, etc. We only had 2 ADRs during our 8-day trip last year. They were both dinners so it was very easy to work around...

    Shoes?!?!

You should wear whatever shoes you wear in your everyday life that are comfortable for you. Buy a new pair (or two) a few months before going to Disney to make sure they're broken in and less likely to cause blisters at Disney. For years I wore Nike & New Balance at home and that's what I...
