Disney Hong Kong to get Iron Man Ride...

I was at HKDL last Sunday. The ride looks ready to open. Wait sign posted, no sign of construction, but entrance blocked off with planters. Alas, it was still not open.

    The Spirited 11th Hour ...

I've been warning people of this. I spend a lot of time in China. I was just at HKDL on Sunday. I've been there every year since it opened. It is a very clean park and Chris is right, HK residents are very different than the mainland Chinese. Last summer I went to the Shanghai zoo. A...

    The Spirited 11th Hour ...

There's really very little 10th anniversary hoopla. Small small signage added to the gazebo in town square. A big God-awful plywood cutout storybook and fab five that you can take a selfie in front of that hey plopped down right inside the castle in front of the carousel. Not much 10th...

    The Spirited 11th Hour ...

I'd love to hear some of the details when you can share them. After my fourth visit to HKDL in 12 months, I'd loved to see an exciting second gate there.

    Tartans Treehouse HKDL

Update. The scaffolding is gone and the treehouse looks great. Not sure exactly when it came down, but it is indeed gone for the 10th anniversary.k

    A Spirited Perfect Ten

You might be surprised at how many mainland Chinese visit HKDL. A bigger hit to the attendance though will be the continued devaluation of the rmb. It's already affecting high end stores on Canton road as the mainlanders aren't getting as good of a deal with currency exchange any more. There...

New Omnitable patent - possible CoP replacement?

Here I saw Martin replied to a CoP thread and got my hopes up, only to have them dashed. :(

    A Spirited Perfect Ten

Story in yesterday's South China Morning Post (I'm in Hong Kong again), talked about the June 16th date, but the main gist of the article is that the Shanghai park is 3 times the size of HKDL and that ticket prices will be significantly cheaper. Shanghai DL tickets will be 300-400 rmb ($45-$60...

Gran Fiesta Tour - New Animatronics

Nice to see something being done to plus an attraction. I'm not sure what it says about how excited we are over the only news being 35 year old used animatronics that have been collecting dust somewhere being installed in an existing space using existing labor. o_O

DHS Makeover - What we know so far.....

And the only reason I brought up the HKDL version is to point out how captivating a great version of the ride can be. I'd have absolutely no issue with the ide at MK in WDW if it as actually interesting. Right now, with the shortened track, lack of visuals and 1960s lawnmower engine go-carts...

    Tartans Treehouse HKDL

Bamboo scaffolding is the norm. It's 100% certain that this is not theming, especially with the plastic tie construction of it. Actually, seeing metal scaffolding in China would be... weird. What's scary is seeing the workers up atop those 50 story bamboo constructions.

    A Spirited Perfect Ten

I'm not even sure DisneySEA beats Diagonal Alley. DisneySEA as an overall park has a great theme and some beautiful areas, while DA is one (actually small area wise) land. But the sheer density of theming and placemaking and absolute stickler for detail and consistency puts Diagonal Alley over...

    Tartans Treehouse HKDL

The bamboo looks okay from a distance, but the scrap plastic it's tied together with and the brown rags shielding spots don't look great up close. Talked to a CM while I was there. He said the bamboo has been up for two years and is part of "routine maintenance". But it would all be coming...

DHS Makeover - What we know so far.....

Rode the HKDL autopia on Sunday. The smooth running electric cars with on board audio through lush landscaping I'm sure would be enjoyed by kids in Florida just as well as the gas guzzlers.

    Tartans Treehouse HKDL

Six months after my last visit, bamboo scaffolding still there. No visible changes to the treehouse.

I know this topic has been brought up by the Spirit in the past, so I'll post this here. Yet another article casting a questionable eye on the practice of stock buybacks. http://www.usatoday.com/story/money/personalfinance/2015/11/14/stock-buybacks-investors-stocks/74719652/
