News Disney mask policy at Walt Disney World theme parks

Well I just got back from WDW. Had Covid by the last day of the trip. So all that mask misery accomplished nothing. Between the hotel, bathroom, meals, and attractions, that unwanted adornment was put on and taken off my face 30-40 times per day. What a nuisance that was while holding a...

Bob Iger returning to Disney as CEO?

I thought maybe they were grooming D'Amaro for the face of the company but not after this year. Credit to Iger. The timing of his abandonment, not just due to covid but from the culmination of problems he himself brought to the company, was perfect. It's easy to complain about his leadership...

On layoffs, very bad attendance, and Iger's legacy being one of disgrace

I don't follow. If they are a bright spot in the industry right now, why wouldn't they lengthen trips? Imagine how wonderful it would feel to take a break from the scorching parks, hotter than normal from sweating into and exhaling into an already moist, dirty mask, by going down the street to...

On layoffs, very bad attendance, and Iger's legacy being one of disgrace

So if water parks are the one bright spot in the industry, why do the Disney water parks remain closed?

Walt Disney World Park Hours cut starting September 8 2020

Where is the price reduction to compensate for the reduction of experience? @lentesta was just saying how the best plan for Epcot was to arrive after 6pm when the weather is nicer. I liked that idea, we've always taken a break in the middle of the day anyway. So much for enjoying twilight...

    Splash Mountain re-theme announced

Whew. Just went back and watched Princess and the Frog, and it is absolutely full of stereotypes. Negative stereotypes. Granted, so are many Disney movies. Cancel culture may just come for them all. https://www.quora.com/Do-black-people-find-Disneys-the-Princess-and-the-Frog-racist-If-so-why

    Splash Mountain re-theme announced

I can see this for Disneyland. Not Disney World. Mardi Gras doesn't fit thematically into Frontierland. I'm happy Tony Baxter is involved though. I cannot understand why this would be a priority over all the other work and possibilities. Decades of guest surveys, but a change.org petition...

What's Still On and What's Now Off

50% capacity with all indoor shows closed and ride throughput reduced due to wipe-downs doesn't seem like nearly enough to keep people at a distance from one another. Not even close. I thought the parks would need to be at 25% capacity or lower and that was with indoor attractions open but...

Rumor Stitch's Great Escape Replacement— Don’t Hold Your Breath

How unexpected. Is this a positive sign of things to come from Chapek?

Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance

They're headquartered in Houston but have branches in both Orlando and San Diego. But I would imagine most of the work at this point has to do with sensors or software, either of which are quickly deployed.

Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance

This is my thought also, that they're ditching the wireless guidance system and going back to optical. Or perhaps a bit of both. Is anyone aware of any advantage of the wireless guidance? I was surprised to hear it was ever deemed reliable enough for this type of use. Industrial drones use...

Star Wars Land announced for Disney's Hollywood Studios

Are there any references to Thrawn in Galaxy's Edge? I've been holding off on reading Thrawn: Alliances until now so it'd be fresh in my mind.

Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance

Well, this thread will inevitably discuss speculated opening dates. Here's the latest: On March 17th, Jim Hill was also reporting that an assumed August opening might be "optimistic" for RotR in Disneyland, that RotR's delay is two-fold: it's having issues due to the complex tasks required of...

News Star Wars Galaxy's Edge Disney's Hollywood Studios opening date

I see @lentesta is already active in this thread, but on the latest Disney Dish, he and Jim Hill get into when Rise of the Resistance will open. The rumors of it opening a couple months after SW:GE's debut on the west coast are described by Jim to be optimistic because workers are being...

News Star Wars Galaxy's Edge Disney's Hollywood Studios opening date

For those that don't remember, when Harry Potter first opened in Orlando, the rest of Islands of Adventure was empty for hours each morning and into early afternoon. Literally every other ride in every other land was a walk-on. If you are able to ignore Galaxy's Edge, pretending it hasn't yet...

    Upcoming Changes to Test Track?

The problem with Test Track is that it is less thrilling than driving a real car. Real cars corner with more grip, brake waaaay harder, and exceed 64.9mph. (Not to mention they have working steering!) They can't reskin Test Track to change the engineering parameters.

News Star Wars Galaxy's Edge Disney's Hollywood Studios opening date

I'm most surprised at no mention of special ticketed events. Disneyland reservations are "free". No mention of Maxpass. Heck, if there are no fastpasses initially, that's probably good for guests, especially the thrifty ones. Almost entirely good news today. Everyone was expecting a...
