Pre-Trip The "I NEED HELP" Pre-Pre-Trip Report

Okay.
Deep breaths, Nicole.

Inhale, exhale.

Hello, friends. I am Nicole, and I need HELP. After my whining, and begging, and downright temper tantrum-ing, I have finally gotten my boyfriend to agree to a Disney trip! It has been FIVE years since we went to Disney together, and one whole whopping longgggggg 2015 of no Disney for me. But it's a new year... it's 2016, and this little princess is getting her behind to Disney. :)

So, I am thinking of booking Disney from Friday, November 4th to Sunday, November 13th. My birthday is the 5th, and I REALLY want to wake up in the world. I know it's a little bit more expensive to fly out Friday afternoon and pay for an extra night, but I don't think there is any monetary amount that can compare to waking up in Disney on your birthday.

Now here's where you guys come in.

Should I stay at a Value Resort (thinking Art of Animation) or should a spend about 600 bucks more and stay at Port Orleans Riverside?

I really want to go to Universal (don't throw things at me) because I have never been! Do you think 6 days Disney and 2-3 days Universal for a first timer would be appropriate?

Should I book now (please say yes) or should I wait until like 6 months prior which would bring me to the end of April...I know NOTHING about how airline flights work and I've been checking every day on the Disney website. It does seem like Tuesday is the cheapest day for flights for some reason, no clue why!

So my dear fellow Disney obsessed friends, please help me. I will be forever and ever grateful.

OMG beyond excited for you. This has made my morning :) I am in the bubble from 4th November showing my brother all things Disney.
We need to meet - maybe do "Oarin" together - lol
Let the countdown begin :)

Yes we must!!! I hate that the park hours aren't up yet because I wanna start picking what day to do what park! This will help us find a day to meet!! It's so far away but will be here so soon!!!! :) :)

I know really frustrating but it's like the cliff hangers at the end of films - they like to keep you hanging on!
eeeekkk you are going to Disney and I will be there too, :)

I honestly thought one day at universal was enough! The lines are shorter and even with all the rides i felt like there wasn't enough to do. I would maybe do two days but three seems like a lot! Plus its just not as "magical" so i wanted to go back to Disney ASAP. Hahah i cannot wait to hear all your plans :D:D

Even though I've never been a fan of the bands, I'm still very happy for you!! ;)

I also think you need one of those countdown clocks, so the rest of us can be reminded of when the big trip starts! You've written some fun TRs in the past, and I hope you'll write one again.

I LOVE THE BANDS!! LOL.. Although I do wish I could choose purple! I guess red will have to suffice! And thank you.. we shall see! :) :) :) oh! and I think I made a countdown clock! Thank you for the tip!!!

Were you ever at Universal before? Neither my boyfriend or myself have ever gone, and I am psycho with looking at the maps, I just don't know if we can do it all in one day! I just don't know!! I've only booked Disney for 6 days with a park hopper, and then have 2 days with nothing so I was gonna get the Universal buy two days get one free pass. I guess I could always change it until 7 at Disney but I just don't know! There is never enough time in Orlando!!! :)

We've never gone to Universal before but a few people who know us told us we'd need at least 4 days because my boys are into all things Potter and coasters the bigger the better. I'm going with an open mind and lots of time.

So excited for you. AOA would be filled with kids and is a little faster paced feeling.
My favorite is still WL even with the construction, heading back in June!

I wish I was going in November for my birthday, who knows maybe I can pull off a business trip with a side of Disney.

Ah, four days! Hopefully I can do everything in 2 or 3! They have an option to buy two days get one so I think I'm gonna do that just incase we feel like we need the third day!

Nicole, we stayed at both POR and Coronado last Christmas, and I think you'll definitely prefer POR for its ambiance and Southern charm (Coronado was great too, but like others have mentioned, more of a convention type resort). You won't be able to do or see everything at Universal in two days. We focused on the Harry Potter lands and several key attractions, and not worry about the rest.
