Pre-Trip Keeping My Fingers Crossed for June 2016

It's time to pull out the planning binder again!!

As of right now, we have:

"We" is me, Amy, my husband,Brian, and our three kids, Logan, Lily, and Owen. Here we are from the last trip we all took together in October 2011:

We have all been since then, just not at the same time!
Owen and I went with my mom in Dec. 2012.

And Brian and I went for my 40th birthday in November 2013.

Then the kids and I went to the parks and on a cruise in June 2014 with my parents and my brother's family.

And finally, Brian and I went on a cruise and to MK last October.

We've had a lot of upheaval recently, so we are not 100% sure we will be taking this trip, but I am being optimistic at this point!! However, we are not telling the kids until we know for sure. It is killing me to not be able to openly plan this trip!!
We have booked a 5 person room at Caribbean Beach Resort June 3-11, 2016. Brian and I honeymooned in the Jamaica section back in 1998, and we are hoping to stay there again!

I know there is a lot of hate for CBR on here, but we loved it on our honeymoon and Owen and I loved the pirate rooms on our 2012 trip, so I am really excited that they finally have rooms that have queen sized beds and sleep 5!! I figure we will take advantage this time, as next time we go we will need more than 1 bathroom, and Owen will be too big to sleep in the murphy bed!

We are obviously too far out to have any set plans yet, but you better believe that I already have the whole trip planned out in my head!!! We are going to spend our arrival day at the pool, hopefully have dinner at 'Ohana, and spend the evening at Downtown Disney/Disney Springs. We will have 2 days at MK, 2 days at Epcot, 1 day at AK, 1 day at DHS, and go to Typhoon Lagoon the remaining day during the week with a possible evening in MK. I still haven't decided how to spend departure day. A lot will depend on the timing of our flight. We will likely have breakfast at 'Ohana, then do some miniature golfing before returning to the airport, but we may hit a park if time allows. Dining plans include: 'Ohana (breakfast and dinner), Crystal Palace breakfast, Akershus breakfast, Garden Grill dinner, Tusker House breakfast, Mama Melrose Fantasmic! package, and 1900 Park Fare. I believe that we will be there during Star Wars weekends. I have no desire to fight the crowds during the weekend, but I'm hoping they will have the special dining during the week again, and I will try to schedule one or both of the character dining experiences for us. I'm also hoping to try to fit in the new Adventureland Veranda restaurant at MK. Also excited that the new night show will be open at AK. I don't really care, but Lily will be excited that the new Frozen ride should be open too.
I can't wait to share the plans with you all as they get firmed up!!

We live 20 minute from Kings Island and I completely agree with everything you said about the park. My daughter and I are always commenting on how Disney does everything better. I did not know that they choose a family of the day to open KI . Obviously I don't research KI like I do WDW. We have season passes so we don't do the "rope drop" at KI like we do at Disney. Glad that you had fun.
We had no idea they did that either! They really surprised us when they approached us as we entered.

So, we got some good news and some potentially bad news today. We went to a new orthopedist for a second opinion about Brian's knees. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to attend the appointment with the first one, or we would have had a better answer than he has "weak" knees! It turns out that he has torn his right meniscus, and possibly the left. They have ordered an MRI to know the full extent. The good news is that this is easily fixed with surgery and he will be fully recovered by June for our trip. The bad news is that the recovery may prevent him from working for 2-4 weeks for each knee, which may have an impact on whether we can afford to go. Still trying to be optimistic, but I'm really feeling like this might not happen now.:(

Brian had his MRI today, so now we are just waiting to hear back from his doctor.

I'm seriously considering booking a 2 night stay for myself at Pop in Oct. just to be able to book the current free dining bounce back offer. Am I crazy? Before any potential travel expenses for this added trip, we would be saving $2100. I certainly am not planning to purchase the dining plan for the June trip, but if it was free, it would save us a bunch. I have priced it out, and I could get myself there for about $450 and I would only have to add $40 to our current ticket prices to get the water parks and more since we were planning on purchasing single day water park tickets anyhow. Does anyone know if there are a limited number of rooms available for this offer? I'm just concerned that I would fly down and be told there were no more rooms available for the offer!

On a different note, I had a good laugh at work this morning. We have a new person, and he commented that he just learned we had a love of Disney in common. I thought that was cool...until he told me how he and his wife visited Epcot and Disneyland before their son was born!

Ok, BIG change in the countdown has happened. We still have 279 days to go, but I only have 8 days!! Brian passed his CDL test today, and has decided that we WILL be going in June, regardless of what it takes to get us there, so I was able to get Pop for $82/night and decent airfare, so I'm going down to book a bounce back for us!! I'm not sure what I am going to tell the kids about me flying out of town, but I'll figure something out!

Will you go to the parks or just hang out at the hotels? That's a tough decision right there. I'm not sure I could do a solo trip without at least one of my battle buddies.

I don't plan to hit any parks. I just can't justify the cost of the ticket when my whole reason for going down is to save money!! I figure I'll hit Disney Springs to check out the changes. I have an ADR at Beaches and Cream on Monday night which is the last night of Frozen Fun, so I thought I might try to see the fireworks from outside of the gates. Then I'll just do some resort hopping with a monorail ride through Epcot thrown in.

It is! It will be here before I know it! I'm going to attempt to write a trip report lol. I've never done one before! I will take tons of pics of CBR! I know they have redone the rooms, and from the pictures i've seen they look great!
I can't wait to stay in the new rooms in June! I'm going to try to make it to CBR next weekend to take some pics to show the kids once we tell them we are going! Have a great trip!!
