Trust me, I was sick as a dog. I'm talking horror movie type sick. If I was able and well enough to leave my house and meet up with my union leader, I would have. I called him in the afternoon apologizing for not showing up, and he had yet to call me back. He told me not to deal with anyone else but him personally so again I understand he's real busy as he is also a manager as well as a union leader, but if my calls are not being returned, what can you do?

If you had called him between trips to the bathroom before the meeting time, he would have been more understanding. Especially since this is the second important (to your future) meeting you had missed in a short period of time. Whether or not missing them was your fault - you have set a pattern of missing meetings. Add that to bad judgement, and apparently a complaint from a co-worker, and most companies will consider themselves well rid of you.

I wouldn't consider it a threat, just more of an option I'm considering. I am not going to shame the company, just would like for my story to be heard as I am disabled and I would at least like an unrestricted rehire or a backstage role in the least, if not my job back.

The ADA does not necessarily protect you from inappropriate behavior or bad judgement, even if it's caused by your disability.

Messed up? I refused to talk an attractions cast member whom I was trying to ask directions for, after hours, backstage, when I was allowed to be backstage so that's a crime? On top of me being autisitic and scared of his attitude?

But you didn't ask him for directions - you made a "cute" comment. You were allowed to be backstage, but not in his area. You compounded the error by running away. How is an employer to know that you will not do something equally inappropriate in the future, in an area where it will have an impact on guests?

Your reaction here, if they really are reading, has done nothing to make them reverse their decision, and may have proven their point that you can't be trusted to behave appropriately.

I suggest you chalk this one up to experience and try to do better in the future with a different employer.

I wonder if he asked for a victim name tag....

Seriously dude, you have an excuse for everything, you play your disability card constantly, and obviously are a completely unreliable worker. I wouldn't want to deal with you either. You screw up within days of hiring and you've created weeks worth of drama. Your disability doesnt mean crap... Employers dont have to tolerate this kind of crap. Theyve cut ties and it seems rightfully so.

Take a lesson from this. Do your job.. Stay out of areas you aren't supposed to be in... Act professional... And stop telling everyone you are disabled constantly like it grants you some immunity.

Alright another update.

I spoke with a member of my union for my department, and even though I appreciated his help, I'm having trouble keeping in contact with him. After I explained my situation to him, he offered to escort me to the premises to return my belongings, and fill out at statement at the union office. We agreed to meet up Wednesday, but I had gotten food poisoning last minute unexpectedly. I understand he is also a trainer for new hires so that could be the reason.

I honsetly don't think I'm even going to mess with the union at this point. If I am not able to find work in a month or so, I probalby will. But due to the fact I was under probation, they might not be able to help me anyways.

Meanwhile, I decided to call one of my managers about that letter I had recieved. He basically told me I am terminated and I am a restricted rehire on top of that.

In the spur of the moment, I asked why was I being terminated. He said due to the fact I ran from him, and I didn't ask him for help. I already esxplained to them why I ran and why I avoid communicating with him.

He then said I remind him of another CM that has autism. He said unlike me, he actually asks for help and blah blah blah. No two cases of autism are the same. So how dare he.

He also suggested that I get mental help. I then told him, how the hell does he not know I don't take medication or recieve mental therapy? I am not going to disclose that on this website, but I took offense to that.

He then said all I have to do is return my belongings to harbor point like other people have suggested. Because if I don't, the company will assume this is "ransom".

So my options at this point are to have steady employment for at least six months at another company, then hope and pray I am rehired again, hope the union can help me,

Or my last step is to contact ktla 5 news los angeles. Or fox 11 news. Notice I didn't say abc 7 lols. I have my nametag, my costume everything to prove I worked there.

I was terminated for no reason, and I have lots of twitter followers and lots of youtube subscribers. I love Disney but I don't love the way I am being treated.
Come on.....terminated for no reason??? You have no one to blame but yourself. Take ownership of your mistake, and grow from it. You deserved to be terminated. When you actually was given an opportunity to discuss the situation, you didn't make the meeting. I know you said you was sick, but I'm sorry there are times you just have to push through. I'm a firm believer that everyone makes mistakes, but a lot can be told from one's ability to take ownership of them, and apply the experiences towards continued development. You should look at this as an opportunity to be a better employee in the future and at your next job. Good luck with that.

One Little Spark...
That said, every time I think people "aren't that stupid", I have been surprised. So...he very well could be this silly in real life. And, I have actually known people (family members even) who have excuses for everything. So...doesn't surprise me.

Advice on what? I'm new member here. I figured some of you guys could understand my situation. I'm going to call HR on Monday, and depending on what they say, I may or may not contact the media.

I appreciate your guys help but understand my situation. I mean I like R. Kelly too, but he isn't helping my situation.
You still didn't answer my question....

And contact the media over what? But if you should, be sure to to add in the details about your stomach virus. They simply adore those type of human interest details....

I just read this entire thread. If the OP is real, then heaven help us.

To the OP, if you are real. You royally bit it dude. If you were lost backstage and didn't know where you were, go back to where you STARTED and ask how to get out. Don't just go opening random doors. Like others have said, you could have severely impacted the customer experience (which IS or should be #1 on Disney's list of things to care about). Compounding the situation by running, you proved nothing.

When they ask you for your credentials back, yeah.... you're fired.
When they ask you to turn in your costumes... you're fired.
When they basically tell you you're fired in a nice way... you're fired.
When you bail on the union rep after he took time out of his day to help you, even when he shouldn't have... you're staying fired. By the way, if you are THAT sick, the hospital is the place for you. For all other occasions, take 2 immodium and move on with your day.

Oh yeah, and if you think you're going to collect unemployment? You were there 2 weeks, not nearly long enough to put anything into the system. You can try and if you're lucky enough to get accepted into unemployment compensation, don't be surprised if Disney has a block on your funds!!!! They have more than enough on you, based on what you're telling us, that you fit within the realm of Disney winning an appeal battle on your UE.

All that you can hope for is that for your next job, that place doesn't contact Disney and ask about you....

@Domosuke This has all probably been a great source of stress and anxiety for you, but it is going to be an important learning opportunity. You've run away from every confrontation regarding this situation, from the very beginning when you walked in the wrong door to ditching your meeting with the union representative. A front line Cast Member is not a position that is free of confrontation. You cannot run off when an angry guest starts yelling at you for something you were never involved in or have any control over.

Part of growing up is realizing we can't always do what we want to do. It seems from everything you have said that Disneyland is probably not the best place for you to work right now. You cannot be guaranteed a work life free of any and all confrontations and in an operation as large as Disneyland it is not possible for ever other employee to be aware of your unique circumstances (where this whole ordeal started).

Right now I would advise you stop making excuses (regardless of how true they may be) and start apologizing. Hand write letters to all those involved apologizing for your actions. Figure out how to return your costumes, even if it means taking an afternoon to just show up with them and wait to be escorted by security. Apologizing is a big part of a customer service type job and its your best chance now of preserving your rehire status. Apologize for your actions that night, apologize for missing appointments and stop making threats here.

I was terminated because I defended myself when a guest attacked me. I'm latino, have back injury that will affect me the rest of my life (caused by Disney), and have two diagnoses which could be considered a disability. I didn't go to the press. I vented on the forums, thanked everyone who offered to help me out, and moved on with my life.

Grow up. You ed up, and are trying to find an excuse to shift the fault back to Disney. You were in a place you weren't supposed to be, and reacted in the wrong way. And for that, you got fired. From an entry-level unskilled job in a market where people are desperate for employment.

Disney does not care about you. You are really just a number. For every person they have fired, there's another person ready to go. They won't even incur overtime in getting someone to take the shifts that you were scheduled.

Now, regarding going to the media. There's a problem with that: Disney is a juggernaut that either owns or controls the media. Not counting Disney owned media, Do you really think that a news organization will risk access to a major press event at Disney in order to report this?

Get real.

There's also nothing to TELL the media that they'd bother reporting even if Disney didn't wield power. This whole story is the equivalent of telling the media that McDonald's refused to serve you and sent you from their premises when you showed up naked and assaulted their cashier.

This guy is real. The pictures on his google plus page, I have seen him a few times. There aren't that many black cms at disneyland lolz.

Disney doesn't own everything. All they own is ABC and even then it's kinda a brother sister relationship.

I'm just scared he doesn't do anything catstrophic like go to the park as a guest and throw something at the cm who got him fired. I seen past cm's do similar crap like that.

A few things:

1. Please leave the race card out. He went on about Autism, not race.
2. For yourself, learn about the company you work for. There are more networks than just ABC that Disney owns.
3. If you know him in some way, shape or form, stop him from calling HR tomorrow. He got his letter of termination, he has no more reason to communicate with Disney (maybe make an arrangement to meet with him and turn in his costumes).
4. If you are worried about him doing something stupid, YOU need to go to HR/security and let them know. If Disney is on here reading these forums, they can figure out who you are roughly (they can trace IP addresses and such) and if you do nothing and he does something, you could possibly get questioned should Disney look far enough for answers.
5. Don't be offended when someone above you tells you that you were late and to not fall into a habit of being late for work. They're your bosses, not your friends. The fact that they tried to lighten the mood by saying something about your bag speaks to their integrity that they didn't want it to be an awkward situation.
