Disney has distributed 10million MagicBands to guests

Disney announced today that it has distributed 10million MagicBands to guests. Quite a number!

I have the utmost respect for you Martin, but there didn't need to be ANY return on this. This was primarily a infrastructure upgrade that they marketed to make some of the money back.

Most infrastructure upgrades aren't meant to see a return.

I meant specifically the plastic wrist band. It costs too much for Disney.

I forget the specific figures but the basis was of a band costing say 2.50 and they cost 4.

To be fair, they didn't say '10 million guests', they said 10 million bands. The number itself is completely accurate.

Yeah, I have about 15.

Funny thing is, they're not really as reusable as Disney expected. My Magic Band from Spring 2014 dry-rotted after getting wet on Splash Mt.

Edit: The band took about 9 months to fade and rot; I found it in a drawer last week.

Sad part is, I am doing a quasi-land sea package in the near future. I am using my DVC points for a base of operations for lodging before and after the cruise. Of course, the four of us are each getting a band for the two part stay. What would be even better would be one band for the hotel, use it on the cruise, and back on the hotel.

I was wondering how much those bands cost to make. Considering the old paper and plastic cards probably cost less than a penny, $4/band is pretty hefty.

Is there any part of this project that actually came in on or under budget?

Accurate yes but I do not think that is a number to brag about when the number of "guests" is skewed.

We have 16 bands... not counting all of our guests that go with us... ugh
