Does anyone even eat at...

ABC Commissary used to have a good Cuban sandwich that I ate, but it has been several years. As for Liberty, we never go in there but I will walk by and check the menu to see if they have better offerings. I also think that if they added some decent food like fried chicken or some beef sandwiches or a good pot roast then it would be worth a try. There are too many other good food places in Epcot to waste my stomach space on crappy burgers and nasty chicken fingers. My kids don't even eat that junk.

I seem to be the only person who ever mentions eating, much less enjoying, at the Sunset Ranch Market in DHS.

You know, I had to go look up Sunset Ranch Market because I couldn't place it when you said it and I don't see it listed on Allears menus. Hmmm.... Is it still there? Or is it just that unpopular?

Sorry...I didn't see your thread. I wasn't here back then.

This thread is a little different though, I think. I wasn't wondering so much how to revamp Liberty Inn, although that's a fun discussion and I think all the ideas sound great. I was more wondering how it is staying open and why it doesn't just close. I was also wondering what other restaurants fall into the category of unvisited WDW restaurants.

It's all good. That joint sucks to be honest, lol.

One of the best anecdotes I have shared involves a family asking me where I got my fish and chips from, as I ate this mouth watering meal while inside Electric Umbrella. They were wondering since it was not on the menu. I told them it was from WS, and they were surprised that there were restaurants at WS. They have only eaten at Electric Umbrella. I am not kidding.

I found this quote on another thread that I just found thanks to Communicore's link and I think it captures what some people have been trying to get at in this thread and I wanted to respond:

I think it's there for somewhat strategic reasons.
Families with young children might find themselves in the middle of the World Showcase loop and not be able to appease their picky eaters without rounding the lagoon and heading back to the Electric Umbrella. The chicken fingers at America provide welcome solace from all the scary foreign food like burritos and lo mein.

Ok. It makes sense that you wouldn't go far without offering this standard food for picky children. And I'm ok with that. But this food is available through the kid's menus at almost all of the WS menus. So, why would you need a whole restaurant like this?

The other part of that is, why could they not offer something for the bland eaters and something more interesting that represents American cuisine better at the same time?

Examples of food for this palate elsewhere at QS places:

African Outpost - hot dog
Boulangerie Patisserie les Halls - variety of simple sandwiches
Sommerfest - hot dog
La Cantina de San Angel and La Cava del Tequila - nachos
Tangierine Cafe - chicken nuggets, hamburger
Kringla Bakeri Og Kafe - variety of sandwiches
Promenade Refreshments - hot dog, chili dog
Refreshment Port - chicken nuggets
Yorkshire - fish and chips

And that's not to mention all the offerings that are exactly like Liberty Inn in Future World, right next door.

I've stopped there specifically because they have a vegetarian meal that no one else does. While the sides aren't the best, the chick'n is a nice change from the black bean burger or grilled veggie sandwich that most places offer.

On our honeymoon we were looking around the American Adventure area and an older CM saw us and escorted us to an office. He had us listen to some Mickey recording on the phone and filled us out a little commemorative paper. He then lead us to the Liberty Inn and announced us to the entire restaurant in a "hear ye, hear ye" sort of way. Then he got some an awesome s'mores brownie. The brownie was awesome. I would say go for the s'mores brownie, but I can't even find what we had on the menu now...

What about Restaurantosaurus? I have been by the place many times, never see anyone there and the menu looks blah as does the place.

Oooh...that's a good one too. I go in there occasionally to get out of the rain or heat but I usually bring in a snack from Dino Bites. The menu does look blah. I don't hear too many talk about this place, it is true.

Could it have been:

Rocky Road Mousse Brownie $3.99

Possibly, but I thought it had s'mores in the name. I wasn't paying that much attention.

Sunset Ranch is a group of smaller QS spots lumped together in the spot on Sunset Blvd in right before RNR and TOT. Listings are probably for the individual spots, like Rosie's or Fairfax Fare.

I've eaten here with a few adult picky eaters. If I eat here I'll get the crab cakes just because it's something different.
I've always wondered who eats at ABC Commissary

We've been those people -- only because we needed a counter-service venue with air conditioning on a super-hot day in HS, and it was the closest one! In fact, we decided the ABC in the name actually meant "Air-Be-Conditioned." The decor is mind-numbingly boring and the food was just so-so, just like all the reviews said it would be, but it was a matter of convenience and comfort. Still, we were so underwhelmed that the next time we needed an air-conditioned lunch at HS, we crossed the entire park to get to Backlot Express. ;)

As for the OP's question about the American Adventure restaurant, we always wonder the same thing when we walk by. It's a shame they can't represent America's culinary diversity better.

As far as liberty Inn goes they just did an update to the menu last fall that's been mentioned here and I've heard some really good review, specifically of the crab cakes and crab fries. As far as ABC goes I used to go there almost every trip because they really had a diverse menu of items like Chicken Curry and Asian salad that other places didn't have. They have gone the opposite way of Liberty Inn, and have gotten a simpler more common menu.

I'm wondering what the point of Peco's Bill's is now. Their appeal was always the Burger/Taco Salad bar and have gotten rid of the Taco Salad and gone to the mostly premade angus Burger making the bar mostly useless and me sad.

Oh no you can't be serious! No more Taco Salad? At least you can still make free salads from the fixins bar. What about the Tortuga Tavern, is that abandoned already? I like the Taco Salad there since they have sour cream and in the bar, which they don't have in Pecos.

When we changed the menu over at Cosmic Ray's debut season, it was to mirror the offerings from Boston Market and Miami Subs, plus the traditional burgers. A lot of people did not like how we had corn bread and cheese steaks since they were not "theme park food" and as a result the burger line was the most crowded.
