FP+ - Can it be used if i don't use my band to enter the park?

My family is coming in for the Holidays and I scored 2 FP+ for the Mine Train. PROBLEM: I could only grab it for a day when i'm at work and they will be at the parks. If I pass off my Magic Band to them will they be able to use the FP+ without using it to enter the park? I really want my mom to go on the ride but unfortunately work has to be done.
I found another thread like this but it was months old and wanted a newer perspective. Thanks in advance!

No. Just like the old FP, you must have entered the park with your admission ticket (whether that ticket is accessed via Band or card) before using FP at the attraction.

if you time it well have them ready to look for fp+ right when you cancel.

It worked for us back in September. My husband and were able to use my in-laws bands at Soarin and they hadn't been in Epcot that day.

Perhaps, but had they activated the bands to enter a park ?
