My 18 oz dry aged ribeye steak came on one plate that we ordered. We opted for the buffet of sides vs ordering aside and salad. There were 23 different yummy sides to choose between. I'm pretty sure the mashed potatoes were not out of a box though.
Yeah, I'm just weird. I don't like "real" mashed potatoes. My mom makes them every Thanksgiving...and every Thanksgiving I turn my nose up at them. I don't like the texture, but the instant kind (preferably Hungary Jack) are fine.

The only place I've ever found a mashed potato that I liked was at Aulani, and that was more like a potato puree.

We always have mashed potatoes, mashed sweet potatoes (even worse than the regular mashed potatoes IMO:hungover:), sauerkraut, stuffing, cranberry sauce, and turkey. Out of all of that, the two things I will eat are the turkey and the cranberry sauce.

We will eat leftovers on Sunday, and at that point, I will get the instant mashed potatoes.

I have a kid that also likes instant mashed potatoes.
Of course, he's also the one that smokes a lot of weed.

Are you trying to tell us something? ;)

And yay Rockettes. I love them.

Somehow, the parts of the parade that I did miss must have had the Rockettes performing. I've seen them every year, though. I wish I didn't miss them this time; they're excellent dancers and I always loved the costumes. (If you ever get a chance to go to N.Y., they have 2 great, seasonal, shows at Radio City Music Hall--the Easter show and the Christmas show. I've seen the Easter show.) :)

Can't stand mashed sweet potatoes on a plate, either. (However, I will eat sweet potato pie--maybe because it's sweetened up and has tasty spices thrown in it.) One of my favorite pies is actually pumpkin pie. I figure that does double duty--it's a veggie after all, and it's also a sweet dessert, too! :cat:

What movie is that with Billy Crystal talking to Chewbacca? (maybe I'm not seeing it too well...)

Hello all! Happy Thanksgiving. Hope everyone is enjoying theirs as much as we have here and I'm very glad I'm getting to stop in and visit with everyone tonight. Started the day with these:

Main Street Bakery recipe. Yum!!

Then, my daughter says (much as it pains me to type it), "Do You Want To Build a Snowman?"

And then some shenanigans on the huge hill in our back yard.

After about the 10th wipeout, it was time to come in and do some serious eating. Now, the girls have gone shopping and I am relaxing with one of my best liquid friends in front of the tube. Very thankful!

Thanks for sharing those cheerful pix!! You're very lucky to have a nice sledding hill so close by. Looks like you and the family had a fun day!

Ugh. Perhaps I'm in the minority here, but there's nothing I want that much to send me out into a mob like that. Ever since the Black Friday media hype started some years ago, I've just avoided shopping on that day. I'll go to small, local stores today or tomorrow (Small Business Saturday), but I'll definitely avoid big stores and malls like the plague today. I've also found that many good deals can be had on various days prior to Christmas, if you watch the online ads closely. That helps to save my sanity each year.

seems we have more in common than I tough.. I hate the normal mashed potatoes texture (hate feeling any little ball of potato inside) I prefer a completely soft texture with no lumps.

That's exactly my issue with them! Too many lumps. Even when my mom insists that hers are not lumpy, every time I try them there are lumps. My grandfather says the same thing.

Just Be Our Guest for dinner. We figured the other ones we want will still have good availability tomorrow. We still have to decide what our schedule will be since my DD can only go for half the trip.

I've posted this before (and, I'm not the only one), but, non-vegetarians/vegans, beware the strip steak. Unless things have changed, I've had better $10 steaks at our local Applebee's. DS and myself had it, and it was the same for both of us.
However, those who had the ratatouille, salmon, and shrimp & scallops really enjoyed their dishes. :)

I saw a lot of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade this morning, before we left to go meet my sister and then off to the restaurant. (I'm so stuffed I can't hardly move . . . wow, what a FEED !!!!!!!!!!:hungry::hungry::hungry::hungry:)

I, too, was surprised at Tony Danza's voice, and even more suprised to see him in a Broadway production. I'm so used to seeing him on TV only. It's easy to forget that many of these actors are multi-talented individuals. I really enjoyed hearing him sing this morning.

Every year I absolutely love seeing all the big flying balloons! I think I liked Snoopy and Woodstock the best this year. Wiggleworm was very cute and clever, though. What was your favorite?

As for the various singing groups, a lot of them didn't do the best job of lip syncing, and that was a disappointment.

I loved all the marching bands from across the country and their nice, colorful uniforms.

Lastly, the biggest smile for me is when Santa finally appears at the end! That's always been my favorite part every year, ever since I was a kid watching this parade! Happy Thanksgiving everyone and also to your family!
My favs were Toothless and Finn riding Jake.
