Water Park Newbie

Hoping to get the inside scoop on the Disney water parks. Few questions. Does either of the water parks have any character meet and greets? If so who? Also where is the best areas to scope out chairs that will be shaded for most of the day at the parks. We really don't have the extra cash to pay for a cabana for the day. I did find some info on a combo winter wonderland ticket with blizzard beach. Is this still offered if so how much? And lastly any good tips or touring strategies for the water parks. Thanks in advance for all the info.

No character meet and greets at either water park. You need to arrive at park opening if you want to snag chairs in the shade, they go fast. Better to pick chairs first then go to the lockers if you have items you want it stow. The chair lift is a fun ride at Blizzard Beach, but you don't HAVE to ride it to get to the slides, there are walking paths. The pavement gets very hot so water shoes are a good idea.

I don't know if the Blizzard Beach/Winter Summerland combo ticket is still available, but you can easily walk to WS from BB. A round of miniature golf is about $10/person.

We found shaded areas in TL around crush n gusher all day long. We ended up giving up our seats because we spent all day in the wave pool & lazy river. We took a mid afternoon lunch break then explored the shops for a while, stopped by the lockers to check our phones then hit the rides again.
You really don't need the cabana.
