I have an invasion of fruit flies for a couple of weeks now. Think I've nabbed them all and then they are back. I have everything locked down or ziplocked and yet there they are. Oy. Any suggestions folks?

The culprit was a misplaced banana, when found had seen much better days.

It's always a banana around here too!
We need to hire a few minions. Apparently they like bananas.

I don't care if it's after midnight, I want one!

Are you a Mogwai?

Put about 1/4 inch of balsamic vinegar in a small glass dish and stretch plastic wrap TIGHTLY over the dish. Poke lots of holes in the plastic wrap with a toothpick or a fork and make sure the holes are big enough for a fruit fly to fit in. Place the bowl on the counter where you have seen them the most. They are attracted to the smell but once they enter through the holes they can figure out how to fly out and fall into the liquid and get trapped.

There was a decidedly festive atmosphere at the evening funeral visitation last night.

My cousin Michelle (Uncle Paul's youngest, and the one who lost her husband in March) was absent; as was her daughter Jessica.

Jessica was finally up at the hospital, in labour. By the end of visitation, her brother announced that he was headed up to the hospital to join his mom and sister, as Jess was "8 cm. dilated". I have never heard a young man boast that his sister had gone from 4 cm. to 8 cm. in less than an hour, but the sheer joy on his face was heart-warming.

I am fully expecting to get to the funeral this morning to hear that we have a new addition!

As we commit Uncle Paul to his final resting place, God has blessed that family with a new baby boy.

Circle of life.
