Extra Magic Hours ?

I have a question about the EMH at the Disney parks. We are not staying in a Disney Resort, if there is extra evening magic hours are we able to do anything in the park?

We are going the first week of December and would be OK with just walking around the parks looking at the decorations. But I was wondering if we are still able to ride rides, eat at the restaurants or shop?

Or, are we basically out of luck and have to leave the park when it closes?

The general rule of thumb is that, if you're not going to be using the EMH to their full advantage, go to the parks that don't have them on those days because whichever park has EMH on any given day will usually be busier than the others. For example, if MK has EMH on Sunday and not on Monday, Monday is the better choice for days to go to MK.

If you did stick around in a park during EMH without being a resort guest, you could probably still shop and dine, but you wouldn't be able to ride anything once the park officially closes.

You don't have to leave, you just can't go on any rides.
