More Classy Behavior of Guests at Disney

I'll say it again...alcohol really has no place at Disney.

It's not because alcohol is bad. It's because alcohol and idiots don't mix...and there are FAR too many idiots to manage.

Unfortunately, this 1% DOES ruin it for everyone, which is why there shouldn't be alcohol at a family park. It will never happen, but they should just get rid of the alcohol and charge more for soft drinks and non alcoholic mixed drinks.

While I respect your right to have an opinion, I disagree. I think there will always be idiots. But for every idiot that abuses alcohol in a Disney park, there are many many more who use it right - wine with dinner, a martini or 2 before fireworks, etc. I agree that a Disney park is no place to be falling down drunk. But punishing the many to get rid of a few is not a good solution, IMO.

You are lucky that so many people enjoy drinking because by the numbers alcohol should probably be banned across the country as a whole. Sure you find a lot of people that want to ban guns, but guns account for less than half the number of deaths that you have from Alcohol in the US.... I'm always amazed that most people that will talk about wanting to ban guns to save lives almost always balk at the thought of banning alcohol to save lives.

Frankly the answer to alot of problems like the one the OP brought up isn't in what Disney does, we really need different laws in the US such that people need to have a license to buy or consume alcohol and when someone like this idiot acts up the first time they get a lifetime ban from alcohol.... In the end even you banned alcohol at Disney a loser like that would have likely brought his own on the trip so a ban at Disney would really only result in people like him doing the old sneaky thermos for alcohol that kids do in high school.

You act like it's some kind of huge treat that without it, you'd be completely crestfallen. I guess I just don't look at alcohol the same way. For me, I'd rather have a nice time at Disney Parks with as FEW idiots as possible. If no drinking would help that, (and clearly I think it would) I'm all for it. I can drink at my house or out anytime I want. I don't really need it at Disney too....and I know these college and 20 somethings don't need it at a family place.

The only way to combat this is to continue to raise the prices until they can't afford to go anymore.

I agree, wine with dinner, etc. is fine, but the excessive drinking is absolutely uncalled for...that is why we won't step foot in the WS @ Epcot on the weekends during F & W....our family learned that lesson the hard way a few trips back. Unfortunately, WDW makes WAY too much $$$ on it, so it will never go away. I DO think that WDW should do a better job (especially at the kiosks and resort pool bars) to red flag these nuts. Someone is going to get hurt.

I never said it wasn't a profit driver...it is and that's why it won't go away.

My argument is that a strip club or casino in the Magic Kingdom would be money makers too. Doesn't mean it belongs there.

The lowlight of our trip last week was the dreaded freaking cheerleader competition. I despise that thing. After seeing the way a lot of those kids were acting it's not surprising if these are the kinds of parents they have. Even the CM's were telling me they hate the stupid cheering competition.

You can't connect all the child neglect at WDW to Alcohol though.

People I go to WDW with seen Child Neglect before that at WDW. It had nothing to do with Alcohol in that case. What I referring is a dad leaving one of those baby strollers that can carry two little kids behind despite having the little kids still in the stroller. The dad leaves the stroller unattended with toddlers inside while he was ordering food at the Bakery at the France Pavilion.

You make it sound like I'm against alcohol. Walt wasn't drinking scotch during Illuminations and yelling every time a firework exploded.

I already said I believe all drugs should be legal, so I'm definitely not some kind of regulations guy. Time and place buddy.

Walt was also anti alcohol in the parks too though. He flat out said so in an interview with an evening California newspaper not long after Disneyland opened. He literally said that he didn't even want people to come to Disneyland at all if they wanted to drink there. He said that he himself didn't drink there but would after he got home. Also when EPCOT was created it was the first park to allow alcohol but originally it was only allowed at dinner at certain restaurants and could never be taken outside that restaurant. Now we have the F&W Festival. Yes I realize that Walt also once said that he didn't want cotton candy served at Disneyland as well but he said his reason for not wanting alcohol there was because he thought it would introduce a "rowdy" element. He was right. Also for the people saying "why ban it when people will just sneak it in anyway" then doesn't the same logic apply to guns as well? Why ban them? Twice as many people died by alcohol related deaths in 2016 than gun related deaths. I'm not saying I want everyone packing in the parks. I'm just saying that if certain policies are instituted then you can have strict guidelines for how to deal with them. If Disney banned it then they would have instant recourse for those who snuck it in just like they do for those that would sneak in guns but when they foster the behavior to an extent then they really look almost hypocritical to punish people. In this specific case, it looks like Disney tried to avoid an incident and just walked the guy to his room. I suppose maybe it was another guest that called the cops after the dude came back for more. Disney doesn't look all that good in this for not instantly calling the cops to have the dude arrested for being negligent around his kids. Makes it look like they hate negative press more than they love kids. Although we also can't say for sure that this guy got his booze from Disney since he was at his resort when this happened and he could have very well have brought it with him but I doubt it.
