Shanghai Disneyland's Roaring Rapids Closed Forever?

According to this article, Shanghai Disneyland's Roaring Rapids has unexpectedly closed indefinitely with no explanation of closure or re-opening dates. Does anyone have any idea if this is legitimate? Looks like an incredible ride, it would be a shame to shutter its doors with less than a few months of operation.

No no, nothing like that. This was a ride that opened before it was fully ready to launch from a show readiness standpoint and an operational stand point too. It's going to now get the attention and fine tuning it needs to finally fix the reliability problems that have plagued it from opening.

It was one of the rides to commonly break down for extended periods of time, and needs a little work. Keep in mind during the winter months other water rides at Disney Parks globally go down pretty regularly over the winter months. These type of attractions usually require extensive upkeep and it should be operating in a couple months.

As a follow up, it should be reopening January 19th according to the Disney App. Or at least that's when the blocked out days end. We'll have to see if the scheduling changes as it gets closer. It would make sense to reopen before the very busy Chinese New Year.

Update: The reopening date is holding. It looks like the 19th is the day.

I'm sure it was opened so it could be listed in the history books as an opening day attraction. They knew it wouldn't last and just planned on taking it down all along. Fine by me.
