If I understood you correctly you to this day still carry in the parks? If so, you ought to be banned from the parks. There's no reason why you should be carrying a weapon with you. There's a reason why Disney doesn't allow people to.
I've stopped for a while then when my vacations unfortunately coincide with heightened alerts, then I will. Banned? Really? They are worried about your untrained people who have a ccw or criminal element. I am far from untrained or criminal. There have been very few times in my life when my weapon has come out in an off duty status. That is when someone's life is threatened. I am fully aware of what my surroundings (people) are in the parks. I've seen plenty of altercations on the property and am a good witness and I approach security as John Q without telling them who I am. Over the years it is more of a hassle to have it though. Its the same for when I go to sports venues and the security does that highly valuable bag check. If you can't tell, you do not need to know.

Edit for clarity - Not everyone with a ccw is untrained. Some people are more skilled than others. I am referring to those in the military or law enforcement who have many more hours of training than the average citizen.

Yea, I'm sure your related to Rambo, however, unless you are in the proper place carrying a gun is just fool hardy. If we assume something is going to happen in the park...do you plan in firing into the crowd to save the day or just sneak up behind the bad guys.:jawdrop::banghead:

I have news for you. Pulling one's service weapon is the last thing we ever want to do. That is our last resort. I don't sneak up on people or fire on a crowd to save the day. If I witness a shoplifter, or fistfight, I keep on walking. That is Orange County or Osceola's problem. Someone's life needs to be in immediate danger. I am talking about someone else having a knife or gun pulled on them. At that point assessments need to be made. What is my target? What is my backstop? Can others be hurt? Newspapers never publish, "Cop doesn't shoot someone, suspect complies, dozens uninjured". That happens every day. You only hear about the bad and never the good. Odds are, you'll never see me, and nothing will happen.

I couldn't agree with you more on this matter.

Saw a bust at AKL, 4 OC Sheriff's cars, police cruiser 3 Disney security vans main entrance closed off, Curiosity at things like this is never a good idea unless one has press credentials or soft body armor so went another way to room

Not at WDW, but at the Grand Californian in DLR. We were at the pool, and we heard a guest yelling at a CM because his drink didn't get to him fast enough! Made some stupid comment about being in the food service industry for 20 years, and has never seen service as bad as here, and he paid a bunch of money to stay there. Poor CM was in tears at this point, but fortunately, security showed up and escorted him away. He wanted to go get his things from his chair, and they told him, no, and that they'll take care of it for him. We talked with the CM for awhile to calm her down, and tell her that she should not listen to the jerk. We found out later that he was removed from the hotel, and told not to come back! Oh, and the pool bar was crazy overrun that day, so it was understandable that it would take a bit of time to get your drinks. Patience is a virtue!

They threw him out for complaining? I believe your story but that doesn't seem like Disney service.

People can be so entitled and forget that they are dealing with other human beings with feelings and lives too. At the end of the day is it worth showing how big of a jerk one can be over a $10 drink? Absolutely not. If there's a legitimate complaint it should be taken up with as much dignity, and class as possible. I'm glad that you told the CM that and tried to bring her around.

I'm not taking up for the jerk and I wasn't there but what was described above did not warrant throwing someone out.
Actually, I guess I forgot to mention that he physically threatened the CM in front of several witnesses. He was shaking his fist at the CM, then grabbing her, and then threatening bodily harm to her and the other CMs around her. I cannot/will not repeat what he said on this family forum. Sorry for the omission, but that does warrant removal as far as I'm concerned.

During a spring trip back in 2009 we witnessed something rather odd. We were on a walkway between Main Street USA and Tomorrowland waiting for Wishes. There was this young couple up against the railing who at first we thought nothing of. As the fireworks began, an older man who was with them pulled out a small piece of paper and started reading something off of it as the couple embraced hands. As it turns out he must have been some legal minister of sorts, because they were getting married right then and there!! No gown or tuxedo, just holding hands as he quietly conducted the speech during the show. It was not bothering anyone, and it was rather cute to watch. My wife commented afterward how special that must have been and congratulated the newlywed couple. Others around us shook hands with and congratulated them. It was no distraction, just magical to see a couple get married during Wishes!
But no less than 15 minutes later ((crowds were really heavy, and we had not made it to the hub of Main Street yet)), two security persons come up and were talking to the couple and the gentleman who performed the wedding. Next thing you know, all 3 are being escorted away. The security were not happy, but we could not hear the full conversation. That was quite possibly the oddest thing to date we have ever seen while at Disney. We did not see the couple again, but a lady who overheard the conversation with officers said the couple had no permission to be married there o_O !
To me it was not a bad offense. But what things have you ever seen if any that involve security at Disney escorting people away? Have you ever seen someone get the big "BUSTED" treatment while at WDW?
While you are correct that what this couple did posed no harm, Disney really has no other choice than to not allow it. It would only be a matter of time before it would turn into your typical case of one person ruining it for everyone. A 5 person wedding party off in a corner is no big deal. Someone thinking that it is perfectly OK to stage an elaborate wedding with 200 guests in the middle of the hub (and we all know someone would try this) would be.

Agreed. That would make me sick seeing that and I would have intervened without second thought. No place for that, especially not at Disney. I don't care how much he paid, there is no reason to be a bully.
