Blown Away By Prices

We are looking at going to Disney from October 13th till either the 19th and or 18th. We have 3 children 9,8,5 and have gone to disney quite a few times before and always did the dining plan and we were always under 2 grand easy. I'm looking now and it's ridiculous? I mean I'm talking 4 grand before airfare at a moderate hotel like Port Orleans and Animal Kingdown was 1k a night...What gives? The chat guy tried to tell me those are normal prices....Mind you those prices were without park tickets and or the dining plan...With those we were at 4 grand for Port Orleans.

I am going about the same time as you. Right now I am booked at the Swan to save some cash. I am hoping some discounts will come out between now and then.

Good luck!

Join me, together we can rule the galaxy.
Look into the family suites, many will recommend AoA because the prices aren't too bad and there is room for 5. Are you pricing POFQ or POR? POR has family suites but they can be a bit steep as you are getting close to two rooms at once.

Also, there will be many discounts available if you book through WDT but are not announced yet, you can make your reservation for $200 and apply discounts once they are offered, before completing the payout for your vacation. Right now they are offering 25% off rooms at Moderates and 30% at Deluxe and free dining for most of September so you should not be too far off from the next offer.

We usually visit Disney in the Fall. End of Oct., beginning of Nov., for anywhere for a week to 10 days, costs us approx $7,000-$8,000. That's at a Deluxe, park hopper plus and dining... Family of 3

Disney hotels are priced high.

Offsite, you'll find better accommodations for much less.

My sister usually brings her kids for two or three weeks when they get out of school. She likes the Disney hotels and we go stay in one for few days or a week. She can stay for FREE with me, but she enjoys the vacationy part so much that we did it. It was fun.

Not this year. Even she has hit her breaking point. Casa luv it is. :)

im going with my family november next year (2 adults, 1 free child and child over 3), and between 4 days in the world and 2 at universal im going to be shelling out $1200 for tickets alone (disney is 800)...its crazy.

but the sacrafice for staying offsite is helping, i got 6 bedroom house 3 miles from disney gate for 135 a night. wish i was on property but ill manage.

Yeah, I just ran a quick quote online and got $3692 for 10/13 - 10/19. Prices are rising a crazy amount every year. You may see some discounts come out, but since that's the week of Columbus Day, they will probably not be great.

This is why we stay offsite if we want to stay overnight. Have you tried using priceline? Our family of four stayed at the Omni at Championsgate for less than $90 per night. Omni would be about equivalent to the deluxe rooms at Disney. We are staying at Bonnet Creek in July for $500 for a week. Again...use priceline.

Disney hates hardworking middle class America. The young family's Disney vacation - there's yet another cherished tradition that's been taken away from the American family.

On behalf of Bob Iger I bid you farewell and thanks for all the memories.

Living in the midwest we have been fortunate to go once a year. This is the second year in a row we have had to skip because the prices have gone up. Combine that with air fare or gas and hotel if we decide to drive and it's not even realistic for my family of 4. We went to Myrtle Beach for spring break instead and including food and travel it cost us exactly half of what Disney would have before travel. We had a beautiful beach front condo. We still love Disney and dream about going back next year but it depends on the real cost.

We book thru a TA and have stayed off site many years ago for the first few nights we arrived in Orlando. We prefer to stay onsite, but it comes down to what works for each family :)

I just queried the reservation page and I'm showing Port Orleans Riverside from $205 a night.
I got the same thing...it will sleep 5 with the pull down bed for the 5-year old....$1232.99 for room only; $2716.09 with 7-Day ticket for everybody; with Disney Dining Plan added...$3692.05.

When was the last time you went? Could it have been at least 2 years ago? Maybe you didn't have to pay for the then 2 to 3-year old...that could be some of the difference...Along with price increases...
