New E-Ticket?

Raging Spirits is a cool little coaster at TDS (but pales in comparison to most attractions there) ... it is not rough at all ... Indy at DLP is sorta rough, but not nearly as bad as FL's RnRC for example.

But the answer to this thread right now is one word: no.

RnRC is relatively smooth. Especially for a Vekoma! They usually build the roughest coasters around, but Disney has done a great job maintaining it's smoothness.

Now I heard DLP's Space Mountain was really rough.

I take it you are relatively young? It's easier to handle the future brain damage when you are under 30!

I think RnRC is very rough and bordering on the 'no fun anymore, so why bother' line of thinking. ... And, yes, DLP's Space Mountain is unfortunately the roughest Disney coaster on earth BY FAR. I heard they are going to give it new trains and do some major track work on it in 2013.

Yes, I'm 16 and I enjoy a rough coaster such as Space Mountain at MK but not a headbanger like Space Mountain at DLP...

I know someone who visited DLP and after Space Mountain, had to go back to the hotel due to the headache.

Yes, Space Mtn in Paris can do that and it's a shame. Great coaster. Great effects. Pitch darkness. Cool soundtrack (although not as good, from what I've been told, as the original From the Earth to the Moon version). But unless you are waaay upfront and literally spend the whole ride focused on keeping your head from moving there is no way to enjoy it. If it were in the USA parks, the lawyers would have had it shut down by now.

I'm 16 and love every thrill coaster but I kinda don't like RRC i feel like I have a concussion when I get off. My 34 year old dad though loves it

Is it rougher than the Matterhorn or Disney World's Space Mountain?

Few notes:
1. No more coasters in MK are needed. 3 is enough. In fact, WDW could do without another coaster again. Now a coaster hybrid that adds many more elements than just a roller coaster needs to be more along the lines of what Disney should be creating.
2. MK is fine. There are more rides in 2 lands there than any other total park. The reason why DL and DCA are doing so great is because there are so many attractions at the parks. Imagine if WDW built enough attractions to make each park worthy of a second day instead of just MK and maybe Epcot. I literally could buy a 6 day pass for DL and a 6 day pass for WDW and feel that I was getting an equal experience in attractions in just 2 parks.
3. Adventureland is already stacked. It is a well paced out land. Probably the most balanced in all of WDW (with the exception of a full time dining).

Yes, considerably more so.

As a point of reference, have you ever been on the Manhattan Express at the New York New York in Las Vegas? (I think it's just called "The Roller Coaster" now -- talk about dumbing down a name!) It's that rough.

A large part of the discomfort factor has to do with the fact that DLP's Space Mountain (as opposed to the Matterhorn or the MK's SM) has over-the-shoulder restraints, so there's a literal headbanger effect. But even if it only had lap bar restraints, I still think the roughness of the track would make for a fairly painful ride.

I had the chance to ride DLP's SM in the late '90s, and it immediately shot up to the top of my favorite Disney park attractions due to its unique and charming theme, great soundtrack, and fun layout. A little more than a decade later, I could only muster a single ride before giving up -- I can put up with a considerable amount of roughness in a coaster, but concentrating on holding my head perfectly still for almost the entire duration of the ride, and then still feeling battered and bruised afterward, made for an experience that, on the whole, could best be described as regrettable.

I agree with everything you said - especially how great it was in the 90s. I got to ride it during its opening summer in 1995 and we were staying at a Disney resort and they had special early hours for Space Mountain. We got to ride it 4 times in a row without ever getting off the first morning and I think over two days we rode it about 15 times. Now the only reason why I will try it again on my upcoming visit is that I still haven't heard the soundtrack for Mission II as I always get a car where the sound system is not functioning.

And just as you said I am not sure that different restraints would make the ride so much better. But Disney and More Blog reports from a test and that it did improve the ride a lot: http://disneyandmore.blogspot.de/2012/02/dlp-space-mountain-trains-will-get-new.html

Oooooooh! I saw those new harnesses on some Vekoma Boomerangs around the country. I heard they drastically reduce head banding. This looks nice!

Too bad I'll never even visit DLP. :(

Why would you never visit Disneyland Paris?
Well not in the near future because I am only 16 years old and I can't travel to another country by myself and I doubt my family or anyone I know would want to even go to Disneyland Paris even if we were in Paris.

So I should've said "never visit Disneyland Paris anytime soon".

Plenty of years left... You will appreciate it more in your 20's anyway. :) Lots more reasons to go to Paris than DLP.

Nah...nothing is that rough.

Observe the Manhurtin Express. (The somewhat censored version.)

I was pretty sure that was going to be TPR's POV before I clicked on the link -- I watched it a couple of hours ago! :D

On my last trip to Vegas, I was disappointed to find that the Manhattan Express was as rough as always, while the underappreciated Star Trek: The Experience was gone. (And not long after, the short but fun Speed: The Ride closed as well...)
