One of my favorite parades the Pixar Play Parade returns to DCA after a nearly year and a half hiatus.

There's more info at the link.

And when the Pixar Play Parade starts rolling again on June 15, fans of the procession will notice a few updates. “The biggest change that fans will see is that we reconfigured the Omnidroid float in ‘The Incredibles’ unit,” says Show Director Robin Trowbridge. “Jack Jack is now repositioned, and we are introducing Violet to the parade for the first time. It’s really cool!”

More people than ever will be able to “join in the party,” too, as the parade is presented up to twice daily along the new, longer Disney California Adventure park parade route, winding from the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror in Hollywood Pictures Backlot all the way to Silly Symphony Swings on Paradise Pier.

June 15th is going to be quite the day for DCA.

Yes it is!

But Al Lutz is also saying that there will be some surprise appearances of the Pixar Play Parade by early June, with June 15th being the official opening day after a week or two of soft openings.

From Mr. Lutz recently at Miceage... http://miceage.micechat.com/allutz/al040312a.htm

But with the Carthay walls down by early June there will be an opportunity for the Entertainment department to run a few unannounced showings of the reworked Pixar Play Parade. As we noted before, DCA will soon have the longest parade route of any Disney theme park, and the parade team can’t wait to see how it works for them logistically. The Pixar Play Parade will begin twice-daily performances at 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. on June 15th. Even though DCA’s very long route offers enough viewing space to only have to offer one parade per day, DCA Vice President Mary Niven wants to run two per day just to help mitigate crowd control issues and provide everyone a chance to see it comfortably.

Any chance Merida might be added?

In the comments section of the blog post someone asked this as well. Basically no :( which is kinda sad given how long the parade has been out. I was hoping UP would be at least added it seems to fit the "play" them very easily.

But regardless I'm happy to see the parade return.

Mousewait is reporting the parade will return on June 1st and has some more details about the changes to the floats.
http://www.mousewait.com/disneyland/lands-talk/353639/BREAKING-DCA-NEWS-Pixar-Play-Parade-opens-June
BREAKING DCA NEWS: Pixar Play Parade opens June 1st with one performance at 5 PM. June 2nd, there will be two showings at 2 and 5 PM. On June 8 there will be two more performances at 2 and 5. Pixar Play is the LONGEST parade in Disney history. It will start at Tower of Terror, make its way down Hollywood land, through BVS, up toward Paradise Pier (through the large pathway, passing by Cars Land) and ending at Paradise Garden Grill. Soundsational is a 24 minute parade, so Pixar might be 30-35 mins. FLOAT DETAILS: The floats have been shrunk in order to fit under the trolley wires. Boo will no longer be in the parade as a walking performer, but on top of the Monster's Float. Ratatouille has been scrapped. The bugs swinging unit has been shrunk dramatically and will only have 2-4 swingers. Lotso Huggin Bear has been replaced by Mr. Potato Head. Incredibles Float: Violet will be in her force field bubble and sitting on an omnidroid arm. Jack Jack will still sport the flame on his head, but will be on another arm of the omnidroid instead of on top. Lots of performers have been added to each float to make up for the changes. Water effects are still in play here. Lightning McQueen and Mater will make a reappearance and will be the tail end of the parade. Over 1000 people auditioned for the Parade and 150 made it.

One of three press releases from today, this one has a mention of Pixar Play Parade, as well as confirming DCA being home to the longest parade route in a Disney Park.

http://disneylandnews.com/2012/05/1...a-street-at-disney-california-adventure-park/

An extended Disney California Adventure parade route, the longest in any Disney theme park, serves as the stage for the returning “Pixar Play Parade,” now traveling all the way through Hollywood Land and onward to Paradise Pier. “Pixar Play Parade” invites guests of all ages to share the thrills of a whirling, spinning, fun-for-all animated playground featuring acrobatics, bungees, playful choreography and interactive surprises that bring to life the exciting and colorful worlds of Disney•Pixar pals from “Toy Story,” “a bug’s life,” ” Monsters, Inc.,” “Finding Nemo,” “The Incredibles” and “Cars.”

Welcome back Pixar Play Parade! Well for a few soft opening performances.

Monster Inc.
Boo is no longer on the floor but a small figure on the top of the float
Another "monster" dancer has been added

Incredibles-
Jack Jack in no longer on top of the float but on an arm
Violet has been added
One male dancer has been removed(before 2 arms on the Omnidroid moved)

The base and the Omnidroid are very different than the previous. It looks like a new float with a similar design or the old one was heavily modified.

I do wish more Pixar movies could have been added since we lost the Ratatouille float or more Cars would seem like a good fit for this year. With that said though it's great to see DCA's parade route alive again with a parade.
